Drive and SF's Kabuki Theater

Two weekends ago Nic and I dared to leave the sunshine for a couple hours to go see "Drive" at the Kabuki Theater in San Francisco. If you've never been, the Kabuki is an absolutely delightful movie going experience. It's a medium sized theater that features mostly independent films but includes enough mainstream movies that you don't have to feel extra intellectual to go there. If you are going blind like me or picky about your movie viewing experience then you will appreciate having the ability to reserve specific seats in advance. For about half the showings, they even require it. They also have 21+ showings with an open bar outside the theater so you can have a cocktail or glass of wine as you enjoy the film. Alcohol + dark theater would certainly result in an unplanned nap time for me so luckily their snack bar is also fancier and more interesting with the usual -- Nic, for example, enjoyed a delicious red velvet cupcake this past weekend and I like that their sodas come in glass bottles.

Parking is easy in the Kabuki's huge lot and if you are seeing a movie you can get your ticket validated so it only costs $2-$3.

Now on to the movie we saw..... We saw "Drive" starring the amazing Ryan Gosling. This was legitimately one of the coolest movies I've seen in a really long time. There's not a ton of dialogue and there are some particularly gruesome scenes of violence but it is exciting, entertaining and very focused in its plot. I would wholeheartedly recommend it!

Happy movie going!
