Two Good Documentaries

I spent last weekend laughing, sunning, drinking and chatting at my 10 year high school reunion in Ojai and I’m pretty depressed it’s all over. There was something so genuinely home-y about being back at my high school, sleeping in a dorm and shooting the shit with about 20 classmates and various teachers that I lived with for three years.   It was a great trip.

After the weekend fun and a long-ass 6 hour drive back up the state yesterday, going to work today was a bit of a shock to the system. I was achingly exhausted by about 6pm and it was the perfect night for a mindless happy movie. So we found just the thing, a documentary about adorable baby elephants and chimps. What could be better???

Here are two great documentaries to add to your Netflix list.

Born To Be Wild:  I won’t lie, this was probably made for small children and it’s not very long but it was SO good and so incredibly cute. This tells the story of two amazing women who have changed the lives of orphaned animals in Asia and Africa. It is a great story and ridiculously cute. If you liked the BBC Planet Earth series check this out! I can’t wait to watch it with my nephew once he has enough energy to sit still for that long.

First Position: This is a GREAT documentary. It is focused on one of the world’s most elite ballet competitions and the back stories of a handful of kids and teens who compete in it. It is heart warming, engaging and actually pretty intense.

Any other good documentaries out there I should check out? Let me know!
